         "When they told me to expect other recruits, I didn't 
exactly imagine…“  No way  he can  finish this sentence
sounds  particularly respectful.  He supposes  it’s good 
that he’s  avoiding  the  racial slurs,  though.  There  are
plenty of  people  who  wouldn’t  even  give it  a  second
thought.

                 He’s better, then, than your average soldier.
                 How proud his mother would have been–

                          "Well, I just thought you’d be taller."
